However Lance Pugmire, a famous Los Angeles Times boxing writer has questioned the authenticity of this news, as he tweeted:

But TMZ said they spoke with Berto about the deal and he said “It’s a pleasure and honor to be in this position and I’m looking forward to capitalizing on every moment of it.”

Another rumor going around is that this Floyd-Berto could land on CBS Sports as free fight and not a pay-per-view (PPV). Supporting the claim was one of Mayweather’s closest friends, Sam Watson, who spoke to Thaboxingvoice and said that the free fight is possible. Below is the video:

With a win over Manny Pacquiao in the so-called “Fight of The Century”, Mayweather’s career sits at 48-0. Whereas Berto has 33-3 record, who is also a two-time Welterweight champion and the current interim WBA welterweight champion. He is also in good form with two successive wins over Steve Upsher Chambers and Josesito Lopez.
